Alex Michaels is a 2007 RHP/1B with a 6'6'', 210 lb. frame from Suwanee GA, who attends Alpharetta HS. He has a tall, lanky body with long limbs and developing strength. Michaels has a simple delivery, with balanced mechanics that work well for a big pitcher and that allows his loose arm to work through well. Michaels maintains his height well during his delivery and throws downhill. Michaels fastball was steady at 81-86 mph with some running action. He threw a 71-74 mph breaking ball that looked like he got over like a curveball but that had a smaller, sharp slider type break. Whichever you want to call it, it was a good pitch. We didn't see a change up. Michaels threw good quality strikes with both pitches and worked comfortably and efficiently. You have to believe looking at his body and smooth mechanics and arm action that there could be more velocity in there. Michaels should be watched carefully. He is a good student.
