Bob Bieniek is a 2007 RHP/1B with a 6'4'', 195 lb. frame from Lake Barrington IL, who attends Barrington HS. He has a big, strong body with athletic proportions. On the mound, Bieniek has a slow paced delivery with a long arm action and a low 3/4's release. He has a wrap in back which slows down his arm stroke. Bieniek's fastball was up to 78 mph and he threw a 63 mph curveball with a rolling break. Bieniek did not show a smooth arm from first base during infield drills, either, and we think that he has much more upside swinging the bat. He certainly has the strength and leverage to hit with power. Bieniek hits from a bit of a crouch and does a good job for his size of keeping his swing short and hitting through the ball. His best power is to right centerfield and the ball comes off his bat hard. He also showed very good base running instincts after he hit the ball and got on base. It will be interesting to watch if he bat continues to develop. Bieniek is also an excellent student.
