2007 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Steve Torrisi is a 2008 RHP/UT with a 5'10'', 165 lb. frame from Wyckoff, NJ who attends Ramapo HS. He has an average frame and a lean, wiry build. Torrisi is a D1 caliber pitching prospect. He does not have big present day stuff but can pitch with quality stuff. He has a long, quick arm that works with some leverage from an over the top slot. He was falling off a bit in his delivery which was sapping some velocity and if he can correct that flaw he will throw harder just from that adjustment. Torrisi's fastball was 82-85 mph and has some sink and life. His curveball and slider are both quality pitches that will get him mound time early in college. The slider (77 mph) has plus tilt and quick hard break and he throws the curveball (72) for strikes. Torrisi also has a good changeup (78 mph) with some fading action. His repertoire, feel, and aggressiveness to the zone are all quite good. Though he is a pitcher beyond high school, Torrisi swung the bat well too, showing good hands and a line drive swing. His outfield throws were strong and carried well.
