Christopher Burkeen is a 2006 pitcher/first baseman from Colorado Springs, Colorado. At 6'3", 205 lbs., he has a broad, strong back and an above average athletic body. Burkeen’s delivery mechanics make it difficult to evaluate what his true pitching talent might be. He collapses his back side early, and also opens very early, leaving him a short, abbreviated arm stroke as his arm tries to catch up with his body. Burkeen pitches to the outside half of the plate with a 75-79 mph fastball. He threw a couple of 67 mph sliders that had decent spin to them, and also threw a 62 mph curveball and 61 mph change up. Burkeen did a good job keeping the ball low in the strike zone and working quickly.
