Ryan Pickett is a 2007 OF/P with a 6'2'', 160 lb. frame from Oceanside, CA, who attends Vista HS. Pickett has a tall, lean, and projectable frame with long limbs. Defensively he moves to the ball well with fluid actions. He shows good arm speed with solid arm action on his throws, and he gets online carry. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a straight away and crouched stance with a wide base. He has a short and compact swing and is quick to the ball. Pickett keeps his hands back well, and has the ability to drive the ball with authority showing projectable power. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a short arm circle on the back side. Pickett has arm speed and throws with minimal effort staying inline and balanced through his delivery. His fastball topped out at 79 mph with cutting action at times. He also mixes in a 67 mph curveball with an 11 to 5 break, and a 73 mph straight change. He gets around the ball at times causing him to miss his spots, but he has projectable velocity with upside. He is also a very good student.
