Mathew Snyder is a 2008 LHP/1B/OF with a 6'2'', 185 lb. frame from Concord, OH, who attends ND-Cathedral Latin HS. Named to the Top Prospect Team at the event. Snyder is a strong and athletic player with a good frame. On the mound he throws from a low 3/4 arm slot with a loose and easy arm and good arm speed. He stays upright in his delivery, and has deception. His fastball topped out at 81 mph, but he is going to throw harder in the near future. He gets good arm side run on his fastball with sinking action at times. He throws strikes with all three pitches. He gets fade to his changeup with good deception. Snyder also has a good pickoff move. Defensively he has a nice feel around the first base bag showing nice hands. At the plate he is a left handed hitter with a quick bat. He has a line drive swing plane, and gets good leverage at contact. Snyder shows projectable power and could be a middle of the order run producer. He is a two-way prospect that needs to be followed.
