Rafael Thomas is a 2007 OF/2B with a 5'9'', 170 lb. frame from Lufkin, TX, who attends Lufkin HS. Rafael has a lean athletic build and is one of the fastest players in the country. (6.47) At the plate Rafael has a short quick swing with a line-drive swing plane. He has good balance in his swing and drove the ball the best to the middle of the field. With his speed Rafael is best to get the ball on the ground and try to leg out plays. In the field Rafael best projects in left field. He has great speed and actions in the outfield but his arm strength is a little limited at this point. Rafael is a highest-level college prospect and a guy that could receive some draft attention this spring.

Rafael Thomas is a 2007 right hand hitting centerfielder from Lufkin HS, residing in Lufkin, TX. He has a lean, wiry, lively body and a 5'9" 170 lb. frame that is much more explosive than it looks. Thomas was one of the stars of PG National and it was hard for anyone that truly loves watching baseball to keep their eyes off him. He is a game changer and for that, he was ranked #39 among PG National Top 100 position players. Were it not for some very tools oriented and physical players being present, Thomas may have been ranked higher, he certainly performed better than many players ranked ahead of him. He is a spark plug offensive player and can impact a game so many ways offensively. He has a plus plus quick bat and has excellent contact hitting skills, with the knack for getting the meat of the barrel on the ball. Do not be fooled by his size, there is some power in that swing as well... not frequent power, but he will leave the yard on occasion. Thomas has natural hitting instincts and sprays the ball hard on a line to all fields. After contact he explodes out of the box, putting immediate pressure on the defense. He is the player that turns a routine ground ball into an infield single or a bang bang play. This kid is just so much fun to watch play. Not only can he hit, but he can also bunt and on the bases he has plus plus instincts. He always makes a hard turn and takes the extra base is there is an opportunity to do so. This report could go on for hundreds more words talking about how Thomas can impact a game... so you get the point. Not only does he have all those skills, but he LOVES to play and it clearly shows. In the outfield the ball exits his hand well and he has plus range from gap to gap. He is quick to the ball and takes good angles, possessing all the the tools and instincts that top CFs have. Thomas is a 4.03 runner home/1st (from the right side!) and posted a laser timed 6.48 60 yard time. Again, he is a game changer, at any level of the game.
