Curt Momjian is a 2008 right hand hitting catcher (IF) from Highland HS, residing in Palmdale, CA. He has a 5'10" 150 lb. frame with a thin, lithe, and still physically maturing body type. He is pretty lively and appears to have wiry strength and some twitch fiber. At the plate Momjian displayed good balance during his swing and got his barrel on-time to the contact point. He is aggressive and has hands that work, particularly to the pull side. Strength gains will make a big impact for him. Momjian plays with a high revving motor and looked like the type of player that loves to play, suggesting that he will make improvements in pretty sizable increments in the coming years. Defensively he has a chance to be a very good catch/throw catcher. His workout was very good, displaying a quick exchange and lively, in not exactly compact, delivery. His workout pop times ranged from 1.95-2.08 and he was accurate, with an arm that should continue to gain strength. Momjian's agility will serve him well as a blocker and for how low he can sit to present a target. Presently he is a good receiver and handled 86-88 mph stuff quite well. He is a long term follow but as was stated, don't be surprised to see him significantly better each time you see him over the course of the next two years.
