2006 Holiday Open
William Velazquez is a 2006 1B/RHP/3B from Humacao, Puerto Rico with a 6'0", 260 lb. frame. William has a huge frame and was easily the strongest player at the showcase. At the plate William produces incredible amounts of raw power, from his strong lower half. He turns on the baseball well with his very quick bat speed. In the field William features a strong accurate arm at 1B. He has a quick release and solid hands which make him into a quality defensive player. William has the ability to be one of the top power hitting prospects in his class. On the mound William throws from a low 3/4 slot with solid arm speed. He throws an 79-81 FB with slight run, and a good looking 10 to 4 CB with late life. William uses mainly all arm in his delivery, and with his strong lower body there is no reason he could not see a big jump in his velocity.
