Thomas Bartelman is a 2007 LHP/1B/OF from Culver Military Academy in Newburgh, IN, with a 5'11'', 185 lb. frame. On the mound he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with solid arm speed and slinging arm action. His fastball topped out at 78 mph with good arm side run an sink. Bartelman doesn't have the typical off-speed pitch as he throws a knuckle ball at 57-59 mph. It is a good pitch for him and he gets good dancing/floating action on the pitch at times that make the hitter a bit uneasy in the box. With his mix of pitches, he keeps the hitters off-balance, and makes his fastball look much faster. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with a short and quick swing. He stays short to the ball with a line drive swing plane. Bartelman has good bat speed with a balanced swing. He has more upside on the mound, and is a good student as well.
