Casey Haerther is a 2006 first baseman from Chatsworth, CA with a big frame that shows strength at 6-3, 215 lbs. He will need to stay on top of his conditioning as he gets older and more physically mature. Haether's brother Cody is a power hitting prospect in the Cardinals system and Casey shows the same type of power and skill set. Haether ran the 60 in 7.45 and threw 76 mph during infield drills. He moves well around the bag and should be an asset defensively at first base. Haerther has very, very strong hands that he uses well to swing the wood bat. He's quick to the ball with his hands and gets to his front side quickly with good balance, which enables him to drive the ball to all fields. He hit one ball that was 99 mph off the bat and has the type of swing and strength that enables him to hit with both power and for average. He can take the ball out of the yard to any field. We've never seen him with metal in his hands but he could hurt someone with his swing and power.

Casey Haerther is a 2006 first baseman from Chaminade HS in Chatsworth, CA, with a 6'3", 215 lb. frame. Haerther was named to the Top Prospect Team and was invited to the National Showcase. Haerther was the best power hitter at the event hitting several home runs during batting practice and hitting deep shots to all parts of the field during the Showcase games. He has very good hands and wrists and the ball jumps off his bat. Not only will he hit for power at the next level, but he has the hands and approach to hit for a high average. Defensively he has a strong arm for first base with solid actions. Haerther also pitched at the event and topped out at 82 mph with his fastball with late movement and mixed in a 67 mph curveball. He finishes his pitches well out front with good arm action. Haerther can be a middle of the order run producer for a top level Division I school, and he should also catch the eyes of professional scouts.
