2006 Mid-Atlantic Underclass Showcase
William Wardell is a 2008 RHP/C/3B that attends Jackson Memorial HS and resides in Jackson, NJ with a 6'0", 165 lb. frame. William has a lean athletic build with some room to fill out. On the mound William throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a long arm action. He has a good feel for his off-speed pitches and is very efficient with his pitches. William has good command but really needs to get more out of his body to maximize his velocity. At the plate William has a level swing plane and makes consistent contact. His swing gets long at times and he has a tendency to drop his shoulder, which really takes away from his ability to drive the ball. Behind the plate William shows off nice footwork with a quick release. At this point William looks the best behind the plate. He is a kid that some smaller colleges may take notice of behind the plate.
