Gaspar Santiago is a 2007 LHP with a 6'2'', 196 lb. frame from Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, who attends PRBAHS. Gaspar has a tall athletic build and very good upside on the mound. He throws from a low 3/4 arm slot with a loose lively arm action. Gaspar has good arm speed and his fastball really explodes on hitters. It is easy to see him throwing even harder in the future. He does a nice job of hiding the ball and showed a solid CB. Gaspar has a ton of potential on the mound and will attract the attention of many pro scouts this spring.

Gaspar Santiago is a 2007 LHP with a 6'2'', 191 lb. frame from Vega Baja PR, who attends the Puerto Rican Baseball Academy. He has an outstanding pitcher's build, with good overall athleticism and projection. Santiago's pitching mechanics are advanced for his age. He keeps things simple and balanced and does a good job staying on top of the ball and repeating his delivery. The result is lots of strikes and good consistency with his three pitches. Santiago threw his fastball 86-89 mph with a loose arm action. His fastball came out of his hand easily with little effort. We saw Santiago throw 91 mph the week before the Sunshine East, so there is more there right now. Santiago's breaking ball was a 69 mph curveball that had tight spin and a big downer break. He also had a decent change up at 81 mph with some sinking action. All the ingredients are there for Santiago to keep improving as a pitcher. Right now we have him as the #1 ranked 2007 prospect in Puerto Rico.
