Shawn McDorman is a 2009 RHP/1B/OF with a 6'1", 180 lb frame from Niceville, FL who attends Niceville HS. Shawn has an athletic build. On the mound Shawn has a loose arm that produces good life on his pitches. He has a quick-paced and online delivery and gets some nice cut action on his fastball. For his off-speed pitches Shawn shows a nice 11 to 5 curveball with some late break. At the plate Shawn has a level balanced swing and showed the ability to center up some pitches. His approach to hitting is simple, but Shawn will get too long at times and he needs to work on staying inside of the ball more. In the outfield Shawn has good raw arm strength, but looked very uncomfortable fielding the ball. Shawn is a very good student that could attract the attention of many mid to high-level college programs.
