Spencer Harrell is a 2008 OF from Catholic HS in Baton Rouge, LA, with a 6'1'', 155 lb. frame. He has a "greyhound" type body with life and quickness. Harrell ran the 60 in 6.87 and showed advanced instincts on the bases. He looks like one of the type of athletes who knows he's fast and likes to run and challenge other players. Harrell hits with a busy approach with his hands and a knee lift trigger. He tends to get his ba t started late bat has some bat speed and makes solid line drive contact. More strength is going to help him and he has the swing plane and natural hitting ability to really develop considering his present build and age. Harrell even showed some lift in his swing that could translate into gap to gap power in the future. Defensively, Harrell showed good raw arm strength that will improve with better mechanics and his speed will be an obvious plus in the outfield. Overall, Harrell is a very good looking young athlete who could really evolve into a good baseball player. Good follow. Good student.
