David Sharpe is a 2009 LHP/1B with a 6'1'', 155 lb. frame from Naples FL, who attends Barron Collier HS. He has a lean, athletic build and projects some strength in the future. Sharpe throws from an easy, balanced delivery, with a long arm action and good downhill plane to the plate. He repeats his delivery well. Sharpe's fastball was 78-81 mph and he located it. He throws two breaking balls, a big sweeping curveball and a shorter, flatter slider that is more like a cutter. He also mixed in a few change ups that still need some work. Sharpe also shows at least as much ability as a hitter as he does as a pitcher. He has a smooth, fundamentally sound and balanced swing with the beginnings of some strength and bat speed. The ball jumps off his bat a bit and he projects some power in the future. He's also a smooth fielding first baseman. Overall, Sharpe is a nice baseball player with easy actions and athletic balance in everything he does. It will be interesting to see him develop as he gets stronger. He could really blossom at either position. Sharpe is also a good student.

David Sharpe is a 2009 1B/P with a 6'0'', 145 lb. frame from Naples FL, who attends Barron Collier. David has a nice lean body that is projectable. David has soft hands defensively and showed us smooth actions defensively. David moves around the base well and has solid glove work at first base. At the plate David starts with a tall stance and a long hand load to start his swing. David hits off his front foot and has good hand strength in his swing. David looks to go opposite field and makes consistent contact. On the mound David throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and has good arm strength. Mechanically David has a good frontside and will throw harder as body matures. David gets some movement on his fastball and also throws a curveball. He is a solid young follow and a good student.
