LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2005 California Top Prospect Showcase
Ryne Fogleman is a 2006 SS/P from Serra HS, residing in San Diego, CA, with a 6'0", 160 lb. frame. He has a long and lean build and is a good athlete. Not quite twitchy, but certainly there is some liveliness in Fogleman's body, which allows for projection of his skills and abilities. His hands work in all parts of the game, which is a strong indicator of future success at the higher levels. Fogleman has good balance and body control and generally has good feel for the game. He hits from a square stance and has a good offensive approach, willing to use the whole field. He has a lively swing and is a line drive type hitter. In time, as he gains strength, many of those line drives will become mistakes that leave the yard. Fogleman is a good baserunner. He gets out of the box well and is looking to take advantage of a fielder's mistake, allowing him to take an extra base when it is there to be had. Defensively he has light feet and soft hands, which is clearly a good combination for an infielder to have. The ball exits hand well and he can make throws from different angles. Fogleman goes to backhand well and has enough arm for shortstop at most college levels. On the mound he pitches from over the top slot with a short arc on the backside. His lower half works well and he has an athletic delivery with good rhythm. His fastball (80-82) has some tilt in the zone and he showed good command on the opposite arm side. Fogleman also has a curveball (62-63) with rolling action and some feel. He competes on the mound but his future is as a position player. Fogleman should be a strong follow for the programs in his area. His tools will enhance as his projectable body continues to develop.
