Daniel Heben is a 2006 RHP/1B from Calvary Chapel HS, residing in Santa Ana, CA, with a 6'3", 175 lb. frame. He has a good baseball build with long arms and legs. Heben pitches from a high 3/4 slot with deep extension on backside that potentially will allow him to create some leverage in his delivery. His lower half works well and understands how to use his front side for stability. Heben has some arm speed. His fastball (81-82) has a little sink and is a potential ground ball getter. His best pitch is a tight spinning slurve-type (68-72) breaker with late action. Heben is able to throw his curveball for strikes or use it to get outs. He brings excellent energy to the mound and has attributes of a very good reliever. Heben also flashed usable change-up (70-71). He has some pitchability and his body still has projectability. As a hitter he possesses and easy swing and has a nice hand path. His bat is flat through the zone and he shows some line drive hitting ability. Heben gets through contact well and gets to the pull side well on pitches on the inner half, but willl hit offspeed pitches to the oppsite field. He has good feet and hands around the bag at first and is aggressive to the ball. There are a lot of good fundamental things Heben does. He has some pitchability, has a good frame, and his breaking ball suggests that he should be followed in the springtime by programs that still need some pitching depth.
