Courtney Jefferson is a 2007 OF/P with a 5'9'', 185 lb. frame from Smiths AL, who attends Russell County HS. He has a live athletic body with some present strength. Jefferson is a very good defensive outfielder with above average arm strength. He doesn't have blazing speed on the stop watch but shows very good instincts in the outfield in getting jumps on balls and running good routes. He could improve the accuracy of his throws. Offensively, Jefferson hits out of a wide stance with a big coil that gets his hips and lower half involved in his swing and good bat speed. Jefferson is an aggressive hitter who makes hard contact to all fields with a slashing type of swing. Jefferson also pitches and while his outfield arm strength doesn't fully translate, he does have pitching skills. Jefferson topped out at 82 mph with simple, repeatable mechanics and a 3/4's release point. He worked quickly and threw strikes to spots. Jefferson's slider had s short, sharp bite at 73 mpha nd he also mixed in some change ups. Jefferson plays hard and enjoys being on the field.
