Jeff Grijalva is a 2007 RHP/OF with a 6'4'', 195 lb. frame from San Clemente CA, who attends San Clemente HS. Selected as a Top Prospect at this event. Grijalva is a power pitching prospect. He gave an early verbal commitment to USC and now will head into the spring looking to boost his professional profile. He is built like a power pitcher, with a broad upper body that will carry future strength and size gains and a powerful lower half, with broad hips. Grijalva has a strong and pretty fast arm. The longer his outing went along, the looser and better he got, especially his breaking ball. Girjalva pitches from a high 3/4 slot. He is a little rough mechanically, particularly getting outside of his stride leg, losing momentum toward the plate. That can be corrected. His fastball topped at 90 and sat in the upper 80s. It is pretty heavy and is cable of developing into a power sinker. Grijalva's curveball appeared to be his bread and butter pitch and the more he threw it the better it got. It has big, two plane action, though at times is quite slurvy. With some mechanical adjustments, he has a potential power downer curveball, a legitimate out pitch. With more development of his mechanics, he could move into the consistent low 90s.

Jeff Grijalva is a 2007 RHP/OF from San Clemente HS, residing in San Clemente, CA, with a 6'4" 200 lb. frame. Grijalva was named to the top prospect team at the California Underclass Showcase. Has a strong, power pitcher type build. He is durable looking but still flexible. On the mound he pitched from an over the top slot with a short backside arm action. Grijalva is a max effort type of arm. He showed average command with his 81-83 mph FB. He did a nice job of setting up his CB and was able to use that pitch effectively. His delivery has some rough spots, including falling off at times to the 1B side. He pitches across his body, which can create some deception, but also creates an inconsistent release point. His CB has rolling action with some depth and was his best pitch. On offense he starts with an arm bar load, which created some length in his swing. Grijalva showed decent bat speed and he will hit balls in his zone hard. Lower hald needs better flexion for more plate coverage, but he has some raw power. Considser him a possible RHP/DH at the four year level and a follow prospect for small-medium size D1 programs.
