Scott Mayer is a 2007 LHP/1B with a 6'1'', 175 lb. frame from Purcellville VA, who attends Loudoun Valley HS. He has a lean, wiry body that is just beginning to add strength. Mayer pitches from a deliberate delivery with a high elbow in back and a pause at his balance point that adds deception for the hitter. He stays on line and balanced and his arm comes through cleanly. Mayer's fastball topped out at 72 mph. His curveball had nice velocity compared to his fastball at 65 mph and had some spin and bite to it. Mayer should add some velocity as he adds physical strength. Mayer showed good fundamentals at the plate with a smooth, balanced swing and good extension through the ball. He should continue to improve as a hitter with strength as well. He ran the 60 in 7.40. Mayer is an excellent student.
