Ben Alison is a 2008 RHP/IF with a 6'2'', 210 lb. frame from Ankeny, IA who attends Ankeny HS. He has a broad shouldered, mature build with good overall strength. Alison throws from a leg raise delivery with a quick rush to the plate that forces his arm to shorten up to keep up. Alison has good arm quickness and his arm works well but his timing and mechanics were out of sync this outing. Alison topped out at 84 mph on his fastball and pitched at 80-82 with a good idea how to spot his pitches. His 72 mph slider showed sharpness at times and was a good pitch. Alison's lower 60's curveball was soft and more of a show pitch. He also mixed in a couple of change ups. Alison is also a pretty good third baseman. He has good speed and agility for his size and plenty of arm strength across the infield. He is a switch hitter with raw strength and bat speed from both sides of the plate. Alison looked good from the left side in the games and took good swings. He is a good student off the field.

Ben Alison is a 2008 RHP/SS with a 6'2'', 210 lb. frame from Ankeny IA, who attends Ankeny HS. He has a mature build with very good present strength. Allison has a busy delivery with some drift to his front side and a quick and compact arm action. His fastball was very consistent in the 84-86 mph range and was pretty straight. Allison's breaking ball is a 74 mph slider that has a short, quick break and is occasionally pretty sharp. His 75 mph change up had good deception to it. Allison looked like he might have about the same level of prospect skills as a switch-hitter, too. He has bat speed and power potential, especially from the left side of the plate. He's an aggressive hitter who can drive the ball. Allison is also a good student.
