Farris is a 6-1, 195 lb catcher from California with very good strength in his upper body. He threw a good 76 mph from behind the plate in workouts with a best pop time of 1.98. Farris hits out of a simple stance with quiet feet and a no stride approach. He has above average strength in his hands and uses them very well to get the barrel of the bat into the zone and make consistent line drive contact. Farris used the entire field both in batting practice and during the games and has a mature line drive approach. His batting practice was above average for solid contact and he lined 3 hits during the two showcase games. Farris looks like a young player who can catch at the college level and perhaps be a good offensive contributor for that position as well.

Brian Farris is a 2005 catcher from Altadena, California, with a strong 6'1", 188 lb. frame. Defensively he has a good set up with quick feet, and very good arm strength with solid accuracy. Farris has a good approach at the plate with good bat speed. He has natural loft in his swing that should help create serious power potential in the future. He showed his strength muscling a two run single during one of the showcase games. Farris handled pitchers well, and showed solid baseball instincts. His arm strength and power potential make him a solid player for the next level.

WP - Brian Farris is a 2005 C/P from Altadena, CA. After watching the 1st half of the first day, we knew Farris was a top caliber Prospect. He popped repeatedly at 1.96 from a very low and relaxed receiving position and showed smooth actions doing it. He then took one of the best BPs in the showcase showing an easy swing with natural power as the ball jumped off his bat. He offered little effort to generate good bat-speed and hit down on the ball creating a nice backspin that carried the ball a long ways. He continued to take good swings off live pitching and had a few real nice hits including 2 gap doubles that confirmed our suspicion of him being a complete player.
