Cody Elliott is a 2008 RHP/1B/3B/OF from Mira Costa HS, residing in Manhattan Beach, CA, with a 6'3" 185 lb. frame. Has a lanky, good pitcher's body with room yet to fill out. Pitches from an over the top slot with a long arm action. Tends to pull to 1st base side with his head. Showed a FB up to 83 mph but as low as 76 mph. He needs a consistent release point to maximize that pitch. Elliott has a 12/6 shape CB with good depth. It is his best pitch. Occassionally he changed its shape to a more slurvy CB but he consistently threw strikes with. Elliott mixed in a pitch that was possibly a splitter and also showed a change-up. There is potential for a power body. Tighter, more controlled mechanics will help with his pitchability with the FB. Offensively he starts with a low hand slot and flashed some handsiness that is a positive at the dish. He hits with a pull side approach. Defensily Elliott showed soft hands and quiet actions with an arm that tracked well. His future looks to be clearly on the mound and should be considered a follow prospect for the D1 level. Check his performance and development during the next two summers.
