Caleb Emmert is a 2020 C/1B with a 6-1 160 lb. frame from Fort Smith, AR who attends Southside. Large frame with a lean, athletic build and wiry strength. Projects for additional strength with continued physical maturity. Primary catcher with a low, balanced set and good hip flexion while setting up to receive. Gains ground to the bag while working out of crouch with fundamental footwork. Works through transition quickly with clean glove to hand exchanges. Tends to stride to a slightly closed front side position prior to releases from a compact arm slot. Throws produced online carry to the bag with a best workout pop time of 2.18. Right handed hitter with a spread, even stance and high back elbow set. Simple front side stride before launching into contact with rotational actions. Hands comes through the zone on a level, line drive path. Barrel enters and exits the zone quickly and primarily looks to turn the barrel to contact. Flashed some bat speed through the zone when on time and working to the middle of the field. Good student as well.
