James Porter is a 2021 3B/1B with a 6-1 225 lb. frame from Bradenton, FL who attends IMG Academy. Large frame with a physically mature build. Broad shoulders and a filled out lower half. Ran a 7.41 second sixty yard dash. Primary Third Baseman, sitting back on the baseball as he gathers out front with confidence. Does a good job keeping the baseball in front of him. Balanced throughout the transition and then threw it 75 mph across the diamond during drills. Feel for the corner position showing and projects here going forward. Right-Handed Hitter, starting open and somewhat spread out. Low leg lift and then triggers the swing. Strength in the hands present as he impacted out front with authority. Pull-side power showing as he drove it deep into the gap. Projects power down the road as he flashed signs of it during batting practice. Outstanding Student.
