Jase Griffin is a 2016 OF with a 5-10 185 lb. frame from Metairie, LA who attends Metairie Park Country Day School. Medium, athletic build with a lean, projectable frame and room to fill out, quick-twitch muscle through frame. Plus runner, posted a 6.47 60-yard and plays well into game. Primary outfielder, moves quickly to the ball with sound mechanics, repeats them well. Full arm action, gets on top of throws and generates extension out front, comes out clean with present strength. Small crow hop at release, gets behind ball and works through well. Showed arm strength on mound as well, up to 86 mph with fastball, showed riding life with a quick arm and effort at release. Straight changeup at 78 mph, flashed a curveball at 66 mph and slows arm action a tick. Right-handed hitter, starts with a wide base, square stance in the box and begins with a small leg lift trigger. Upper body swing, line drive swing plane with a short path to the ball and quick wrists. Shows nice bat speed coming through the zone, occasionally gets to front side early but creates consistent contact to pull side. Named to South Top Prospect List.
