2005 National Open Top Prospect Showcase
Taylor Hilliard is a 6'2" 215 pound 2006 first baseman, right handed pitcher, and third baseman from Boca Raton, Florida who attends Spanish River Community High School. He has a medium stocky body with a strong core. Taylor has soft hands defensively and a solid arm as well. He threw 76 mph across the infield from first base. At the plate, he has a good swing and a quick bat. He smoked some balls to the gaps and has projectable power. Hilliard has very nice arm speed on the mound. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with short arm action. He has decent command of all three pitches with minimal effort. His fastball topped out at 85 mph and was fairly true. His curveball was at 71 mph and had 11/5 rotation. His change up, which was his best pitch, was at 78 mph and had good sink to it. Taylor is a good two-way prospect who scored a very impressive 1310 on his SAT.
