2005 Ohio Valley Top Prospect
Christopher Roan is a 2006 RHP/SS from Ballard HS in Louisville, KY, with a 6'1'', 175 lb. frame. He has a long, flowing arm action on the mound and a high 3/4's release point. He starts his delivery with a hip turn and high leg kick. Roan's fastball topped out at 83 mph with some arm side running action. His best pitch was an upper 60's breaking ball that had sharp, late downer bite to it. He varied the speeds between 65 and 71 mph and seemed to have good control over the type of break. As an infielder, Roan showed good actions at shortstop with arm strength. He threw 78 mph during drills and ran the 60 in 7.46. He showed a line drive swing plane and gap to gap power potential. Roan liked pulling the ball and hit some balls hard. He's a good 2-way prospect who should continue to improve as he gets stronger. Roan is also a very good student.
