2004 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
C/IF Brett Douglas: Brett Douglas is the twin brother of top prospect Brandon Douglas and a good prospect in his own right. Like Brandon, Brett has great makeup and instincts for the game and has had lots of positive repetitions. Douglas is a primary catcher with good, quick athletic actions behind the plate. We’ve seen him throw much better than he did at the Spring Showcase and the rest of his defensive package plays well and will improve as he adds strength through physical maturity. Douglas is a mature hitter who makes consistent solid contact up the middle and to right field. He has some lean and collapse in his backside during his swing that cuts off his swing and keeps him from pulling the ball with wood, but he should be able to work through this with metal in college. Douglas is also signed with Northern Iowa and will be a solid college performer.
