Cole Van Den Helder is a 2016 RHP with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Point Loma HS. Large frame, lean athletic build. Pitches from a three quarters arm slot with a long loose arm action. Sound low effort delivery with good direction and balance, relatively polished mechanics. Downhill plane creates sink, shows ball in back of full length arm action and competed in strike zone. Arm works well and projects. Deep curveball with big depth, good shape and flashes biting downward break with occasional 12-6 shape. Straight changeup with good deception. Also showed a line drive swing plane with simple swing mechanics and a middle of the field approach at the plate, as well as solid arm strength in the outfield. Named to the National Underclass West Showcase Top Prospect Team.
