Michael Lopez is a 2008 RHP with a 6'8'', 205 lb. frame from Novato CA, who attends San Marin HS. Selected as a Top Prospect at this event. Lopez is long, lanky and looks like he could still be growing. He has room to continue to fill out and also has surprising body control for a young player his size. His arm is quick and lively and as he gets stronger, he is going to continue to gain velocity. He comes at hitters from a Hi 3/4 slot and does a nice job of staying down in the zone with sink. His fastball sat around 88 for long stretches and he gets movement on both sides of the plate. There are easy low 90s in the not too distant future. Lopez did not show a breaking ball and his arm slot and arm speed suggest a slider. He did show good feel for the change-up. As far as projection right-handers, there are not many more projectable in California than Michael Lopez. He should be highly recruited by major D1 programs and on pro follow lists.
