William Hughes is a 2016 OF/2B with a 5-10 177 lb. frame from Lees Summit, MO who attends Blue Springs South HS. Medium build with good present strength. Right handed hitter, spread stance, gets to his front side very early, tends to get off balance and reach during his swing, mid to opposite field contact, has lots of strength he's not using if he could stay back longer, hitting tools to develop. 7.09 runner, moves well in the outfield, compact arm action and release with good arm strength. Also pitched, similar arm action, short stride with an over the top release point, works downhill well. Fastball topped out at 81 mph, flashed tight spin on an upper 60's curveball, threw strikes and was effective. Good student.
