Jay Howell is a 2015 RHP/2B with a 5-7 135 lb. frame from Portland, OR who attends Wilson HS. Wiry, slender frame with plenty of room to continue adding strength. Ran a 7.48 60 yard dash. Pitches from a three-quarter arm slot and flashes sinking action on his fastball. Throws strikes and pitches to groundball contact. Works down in the zone. Tops at 64 mph with his fastball. Flashes a curveball with 11-5 action and locates for strikes. Needs to stay on the corners. Bats right-handed, works from a lower hand setup and has a wide base. Hits line drives to the middle of the field and shows good balance. Flashes pull side lift. Arm strength is still developing across the diamond, but hands work well and makes accurate throws.
