Chase Townsend is a 2019 C/RHP, 1B, 3B with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Fayetteville, GA who attends Pike County High School. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and a projectable build with room to add to present physical strength. Ran a 7.86 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, receives the ball out front, sound mechanical actions behind the plate and gains ground coming out of the crouch, full arm action in the back, gets on top of throws well, longer release but shows accuracy down to second base with throws. Also pitched, graded out highest on the mound this look. Begins with a simple side step moving into mechanics, full hand path and gets tall on backside with a leg lift up to belt, deliberate tempo throughout. Slight gather over rubber, gets on top of ball well with a full arm action and an over-the-top release point with extension out front. Fastball topped out at 83 mph, mostly true in life with occasional sink, curveball flashes depth and 12-6 shape at 66 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and a high hand set and back elbow in the box. Lowers hands at start of swing, gets the barrel through the zone well and shows quickness to hands. Shifts weight well through back side and is able to generate some torque to swing, creates contact out front and shows ability to work all fields, mechanically sound. Very good student.
