Justin Herbert is a 2007 C/3B/OF/P with a 6'1'', 202 lb. frame from Gahanna OH, who attends Columbus St Francis DeSales. Herbert has a medium plus frame with a solid build. Defensively, Herbert is a good receiver and sets up well behind the plate. He moves around well behind the plate and showed solid blocking skills. Herbert has a clean release on throws to second base. At the plate, Herbert starts with a wide base and uses a hand hitch load to start his swing. He uses a high stride and gets his foot down in time to start his swing. He has a very short stroke with bat speed. Herbert has some lift to his swing and has present gap to gap power. He will hit with more power as he learns to get more extension in his swing. Herbert is presently a contact hitter and consistently centers the ball up well. Herbert is a very good student.
