Sam Beck is a 2017 RHP/1B with a 6-4 205 lb. frame from Warren, NJ who attends Rutgers Preparatory. Extra-large, athletic frame with broad shoulders, long limbs, and present strength proportioned throughout body. Primary righthanded pitcher, shows good tempo and rhythm to delivery with a slight pause at top of balance point. Good line and direction towards the plate and utilizes lower half well while working to a tight three-quarters release point. Creates nice angle to fastball, topped out at 85 mph and gets on hitters quick with some heavy life to arm side. Works both sides and mixes in an 11-5 curveball with nice depth and late break. Fills up zone and induces contact early in count with ability to miss barrels. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high back elbow and uses a small leg lift trigger. Uses strength to generate bat speed, full swing through zone with contact to all fields and jump off the barrel when extended out front. Named to Sunshine Northeast Top Prospect List. Very good student.
