Matthew Semon is a 2018 RHP with a 6-3 190 lb. frame from Valley Cottage, NY who attends Don Bosco Prep. Large frame with broad shoulders, tapered and athletic present build; good projection remaining. Righthanded pitcher, slow step back into gather over rubber, loads himself well on backside and incorporates back hip, lands online through drive, high back elbow through arm stroke, offline hook through the back, gets to three quarters slot and creates angle. Fastball worked 82-86 mph, flashes big sink when pronated out front. Quick arm, some effort to arm stroke. Fastball is heavy to arm side. Flashed feel to work inside vs. hitters of either handedness. Curveball shape varied; better look came as more of a slider with sharpness and tilt. Good feel to spin overall. Named to 2017 Northeast Top Showcase Top Prospect List; good student. Verbally committed to St. John's.
