Sam Vaughan is a 2017 RHP/OF with a 6-3 175 lb. frame from Marietta, GA who attends Hillgrove HS. Tall and slender athletic build, very good physical projection. Compact arm circle in back but gets to an extended 3/4's release slot well, upper half delivery with limited lower half use, has good angle to the plate, some effort on release. Fastball topped out at 81 mph, gets some cutting action pulling across the ball on release, some heavy life down in the zone.. Gets over curveball well and creates some downer life and plane, has some feel for his change up. Not consistent yet in his mechanics but is getting there. 7.42 runner, moved athletically in the outfield with good balance. Right handed hitter, has good hitting mechanics and swings hard, solid mid field contact. Should keep improving with strength. Very good student.
