Zeke Kuyawa is a 2017 OF/SS with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Grand Prairie, TX who attends Mansfield Timberview High School. Medium, athletic frame with narrow shoulders and shows present strength, additional room to fill throughout. Ran a 6.93 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, moves well to the ball with sound footwork, works through the ball nicely and repeats actions, quick arm and gets on top of throws well from an over the top slot with nice extension out front, comes out of hand clean and on line, solid carry to intended base. Also pitched, full arm action with looseness through the back, works to a three-quarters arm slot, high leg lift up past belt with a short stride down the mound. Effort at release, fastball topped at 73 mph with cutting life, consistently worked to the glove side, gets in on lefthanded hitters well. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high back elbow in the box. Quick hands to swing and stays pretty direct and short to the ball, some leverage to swing path, occasionally gets uphill but hits the ball out front. Uses a toe tap trigger for timing, full path through the point of contact, simple load moving into swing, shows line drive contact with occasional jump off the barrel when squared. Excellent student.
