2016 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
Khalil Dunn is a 2018 OF/RHP with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Conyers, GA who attends Evangel Christian Academy. Large frame with long limbs and strong, athletic build. Projects for additional strength. Ran a 7.15 sixty yard dash. Primary outfielder, closing to the baseball with deliberate, fundamental footwork. Clean glove actions while funneling and works through transition with smooth paced actions. Loose arm action while releases, creates some carry to the bag with accuracy topping at 80 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a spread, even stance and high back elbow set. Lower half launches to contact with rotational generating occasional shift. Loose, extended hand path to contact with a naturally lifted barrel plane through extension. Primarily used a mid-field approach and generated good backspin off the barrel that produced solid carry to each of the outfield gaps. Also pitched showing a simple side step to leg lift delivery. Primarily released from a three-quarters arm slot, but would vary release point at times. Filled the strike zone with a fastball offering that topped at 74 miles per hour. Also showed a curveball with 11/5 shape that had some depth when located down in the strike zone. Good student as well.
