2016 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Dustin Angus is a 2017 SS/3B with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Laguna Beach, CA who attends Laguna Beach HS. Large frame with a solid, athletic build and present strength. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.15 sixty yard dash. Primary shortstop with fundamental footwork while working to and surrounding the baseball. Moves well to each side with smooth actions while working through transition. Creates good arm speed at releases from a compact slot, topped at 85 mph. Throws had stiff, on line carry to the bag with developing accuracy. Right handed hitter with a relaxed, balanced stance. Lower half launches to contact with linear actions creating good shift. Consistently squared on contact throughout batting practice with a line drive plane to the middle of the field. Flashed bat speed at times that produced rising line drives to the gaps with good backspin and carry. Projectable frame with solid tools that will continue to develop with maturity and repetition. Very good student as well.
