Jakob Benger is a 2017 OF with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Phoenix, AZ who attends Chaparral HS. Has a mature build with long arms and broad shoulders, sign of present strength in frame. Posted a 7.52 60-yard dash. From the outfield, fields the ball out in front while doing a solid job of coming through the baseball. Has quick arm speed on throws while developing feel and smoothness on arm and defensive actions. Will add even more arm strength as he continues to put on additional muscle. At the plate, left-handed hitter that starts with a wide base and high back elbow. Swing starts with a high leg lift trigger with some hip coil, big weight shift into contact. Has solid bat speed with developing balance. Swings on a line drive swing plane with natural lift at the point of contact. Showed hard pull side contact, ball comes off well when barreled. Good student.
