Thomas Nichols is a 2007 LHP/1B with a 6'3'', 203 lb. frame from Fort Mill SC, who attends Charlotte Christian Academy. He has good athletic tone on a large frame. For some reason we weren't able to see Nichols throw anywhere close to how he has thrown in the past. He may of made some ill advised mechanical adjustments or might have been hurt. In the summer of 2005 Nichols was throwing 78-79 mph on his fastball. He topped out at 69 mph at the Academic Showcase a year later with a stiff arm action and labored delivery. He also threw a 65 mph curveball and 55 mph change up. Nichols did show some ability at the plate, with a smooth line drive swing and good balance in the batters box. He is a very good student.
