Blake Pivaroff is a 2020 SS with a 6-0 195 lb. frame from Laguna Beach, CA who attends Laguna Beach HS. Medium, athletic frame with broadness to shoulders and present strength throughout frame. Primary shortstop, fields the ball out front, shows quickness to footwork and overall actions, sound on the charge, does a nice job of working on top fo the ball and shows comfort dropping slot on throws across the diamond, present arm strength and carry on to first base. Also pitched, simple leg raise delivery with a full arm stroke through the back, works to a high three-quarters release point at release. Loose arm through the back and works downhill, fastball topped out at 86 mph with some running life when down in the zone. Firm changeup with fading life at 79 mph, 11-5 shape to curveball. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; has timing triggers to swing but shows balance. Short, direct swing path to the ball, utilizes a pull approach and shows lift at the point of contact with carry when squared. Good student. Verbal commitment to Arizona State.
