Gerry Lopez is a 2020 OF/LHP with a 5-7 160 lb. frame from Phoenix, AZ who attends Greenway. Medium frame with a lean build. Primary outfielder with aggressive footwork while closing to the baseball. Funnels out front and worked through exchange quickly. Maintained momentum towards the bag while releasing from a lower three-quarters arm slot. Throws created some on line carry to the bag with developing accuracy, topped at 80 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with a slightly crouched, slightly open stance and simple front side trigger. Generated some linear shift into contact with lower half. Compact path to baseball with a line drive plane through extension. Consistently worked to the middle of the field but flashed the ability to turn barrel head and work to pull side as well. Also pitched utilizing a smooth paced, side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays tall at gather and worked to the plate with drop and drive actions. Released from a three-quarters slot and showed solid downhill plane with a fastball that topped at 78 miles per hour. Curveball had 2/7 shape with loose spin and solid depth in the mid 60's. Consistently filled the zone with both offerings and showed developing feel for the edges of the plate. Good student as well.
