2005 Northern CA Top Prospect Showcase
Brent Hottman is a 5'11" 170 pound 2007 catcher and outfielder from Elk Grove, California who attends Oak Ridge High School. He shows a quick online release with balanced footwork behind the plate. Brent topped out at 76 mph and showed an impressive 1.98 pop time to second which he showed when he threw out runner trying to steal. He ran a 7.76 60 as well but ran the base better when he got going. Hottman stands tall in the box and hits with a slight gather with his hands. He will occasionally get a big swing and lengthens out but it works well when he stays within himself. Brent drove the ball down the right field line for a run scoring double in the game. He has good potential to play at the next level and should be an impact player at the college level.
