Daniel Johnson is a 2018 MIF/3B, OF with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Foothill Ranch, CA who attends Trabuco Hills. Medium frame with long limbs and an athletic build. Shows wiry strength and projects for more with continued maturity. Ran a 6.82 sixty-yard dash. Primary middle infielder with clean, sound footwork while surrounding and working through the baseball. Funnels from a slightly deeper position and worked through exchange with developing fluidity. Flashed solid range to each side and released from a compact three-quarters arm slot. Throws produced accurate carry across the infield topping at 77 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a spread, slightly open stance and simple leg lift trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Direct hand path with a naturally leverage barrel plane through extension. Repeats path well and has present barrel control throughout the strike zone. Consistently created sharp contact to the middle of the field and pull side gap in batting practice and gap play. Good student. Named to the 2017 California Uncommitted Showcase, Top Prospect List.
