Kevin Melendez Calderon is a 2018 C with a 6-2 200 lb. frame from San Juan, PR who attends Puerto Rico BB Academy. Big and strong athletic build, pretty mature physically. 6.80 runner, very athletic for his size, has quickness in his actions behind the plate, game actions in drills, transfer and release are quick and compact, very good raw arm strength with carry, 1.92 best pop time, keeps all his movements simple and fundamental defensively. Right handed hitter, simple approach in the box as well, hits from a straight tall stance with an easy timer and smooth tension free swing, could use his lower half more but has the strength to create bat speed, hits through the ball well and has leverage at contact, mid field to pull side contact. Solid all around prospect.
