Gilbert Rondon is a 2017 C/1B with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Canovanas, PR who attends Puerto Rico BB Academy. Medium build with a strong lower half. Has good footwork and fundamentals defensively behind the plate, receives the ball cleanly and executes proper footwork, accurate throws, 2.01 best pop time, 2.12 game throw to get a runner, can keep working hard on improving lower half quickness and explosion. Right handed hitter, spread open stance, has a long and loose swing with an extended high finish, looks to pull the ball, has some strength when he squares the ball up but will have to shorten up as the pitching gets better.
